Ken Yang Announces Bid for Arkansas House

2 min read

Republican political consultant Ken Yang, a Benton native, has announced that he’s running for a seat in the state House of Representatives.

In a news release, Yang said his campaign for the District 83 seat will focus on conservative principles that have benefited Arkansas’ economy and “family values that make our state the best place to live, work, and raise a family.” The seat is currently held by Lanny Fite, R-Benton. Fite has said he won’t seek reelection.

Yang is the founder and president of political consulting firm American Dream Strategies LLC. He was the campaign manager for Mark Martin’s successful bid for secretary of state in 2010. At the national level, he was part Newt Gingrich’s field team for his 2012 presidential bid.

He returned to Arkansas after the 2012 election cycle, he unsuccessfully ran for state auditor, losing to Andrew Lea in the Republican primary election.

Yang has previously served as director of governmental affairs at the Arkansas Family Council, where he led the council’s effort to help pass the Protect Women’s Sports Act, which blocks schools from allowing transgender athletes to join sports teams that don’t match their birth sex.

He’s also the former president of the Arkansas Republican County Chairman’s Association and chair of the Saline County Republican Committee.

“My record is clear: for the past 10 years, I have fought for the conservative principles that empower parents, protect our children from indoctrination, and defend our families from Washington telling us how to raise our kids,” Yang said in the release.

Yang holds a bachelor’s in history from Hendrix College.
