The Hatcher Agency*

When Greg Hatcher was in college, he made a promise that if he ever did well in business he’d be sure to give at least 10 percent of it back to the community.

The Hatcher Agency has led the state in health insurance sales every year since it was founded in 1990, and Hatcher has made good on his promise to give back.

As a sports fan and the father of five active children, Hatcher and his company donate their fair share of both time and money to community sports-related projects.

Hatcher has served as the chairman of the Little Rock Marathon for the five years of its existence, while The Hatcher Agency’s staff also contributes by handling all registration duties for the international event. Other community sporting events Hatcher and the company have supported include the annual Broyles Award and the Shootout of the South 7-on-7 Football Tournament, among many others.

Last year, Hatcher spearheaded a push to make Arkansas the 49th state to add high school wrestling to its slate of activities and helped raise money to purchase wrestling mats for the 19 schools set to compete in 2007.

The Hatcher Agency also funds the Mighty Bluebird Organization, a network of youth sports teams that has a sporting complex in Little Rock that includes soccer, football, wrestling, baseball and basketball facilities.

But The Hatcher Agency’s contributions don’t end with sports, as Hatcher serves on the boards of directors for the Centers for Youth & Families and the Boys & Girls Club.

“When The Hatcher Agency makes a financial commitment, it generally makes a time commitment as well,” said Hatcher. “The dollars given and the time committed from this small company of 25 employees would put them up with the top 25 companies in Little Rock.”
