Twin City Bank’s participation in charitable and nonprofit projects extends beyond its North Little Rock base. The good works of its 144 employees are tallied in volunteer time running into hundreds and hundreds of hours and financial contributions approaching six figures.

Staff volunteerism for single events has numbered as high as 60 for the Tabriz silent auction benefiting the Arkansas Arts Center. Other projects have drawn 40 bank volunteers for the Hearts on Fire Heart Ball benefiting the American Heart Association and Brother Paul’s Friendly Chapel fish fry.

“It ranges from a handful to a whole bunch,” said Tom Steves, senior vice president with TCB and a member of the executive committee.

On a smaller scale, individual staffers serve with the Meals on Wheels program and helped found the highly successful Argenta Community Develop-ment Corp., which has helped spur redevelopment activity in downtown North Little Rock.

Other Twin City employees helped receive, record and account for donations to the Arkansas chapter of the American Red Cross in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation received $10,000 in 2006 thanks to the fund-raising efforts of the bank’s branch network. Twin City branches also partner with 17 Pulaski County public schools spread across elementary, middle and high schools.

Corporate philanthropy projects are typically routed through the bank’s six-member executive committee, which measures proposals in light of the bank’s goal of enriching the communities it serves.

Twin City Bank and its wholly owned subsidiary, FirsTrust, served as presenting co-sponsors of the Arkansas chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals annual salute to philanthropy in 2006.
