Drummond Printing

Drummond Printing has been part of the Stuttgart business community since 1928, but it has come a long way from being simply a printing and office supply company. It has become one of the nation’s larger suppliers of promotional products. It no longer offers local printing. Instead, Drummond has manufactured products for some of the biggest names in corporate America, including HBO, Tommy Hilfiger, Winston Cup, Busch Nascar, Walt Disney and Victoria’s Secret.

The common link to the past is that its promotional products are all paper products, such as custom-printed composition notebooks, journals, legal pads, steno notebooks, scratch pads, scrapbooks, book covers and bookmarks with whatever advertising or logos the customer wants on them.

Dennis and Nelda Hansen own the firm, founded by John Drummond. Dennis Hansen’s father, Ford Hansen, joined the business in 1937. Dennis entered the business in 1982, and he and his wife began the expansion into promotional products. Their daughter, Amberlea Barnes, is vice president of sales and business development. In 1995 the company joined the Advertising Specialty Institute, and its Drum-Line products have taken off.

The company was chosen as a finalist for the 2008 ASI Distributor Choice Award and has been recognized as an ASI Top 10 Fastest Growing Supplier. The rapid growth – 26 percent in 2006 and 32 percent in 2005 – has been far above most in the industry, and Drummond is planning to add 10,000 SF to its manufacturing plant.

The company has been successful by insisting that the customer is always right and the best way to compete is to deliver exceptional service. It encourages its employees to participate in community activities and supports a local softball team, a bowling team and the March of Dimes.
