Garver LLC

2009 // Category III (76-300 Employees)

North Little Rock

Garver LLC, a consulting firm with headquarters in North Little Rock and offices across the South, is known for its many high-profile projects.
These include the Big Dam Bridge, the tunnel on Interstate 540 and projects since 1955 at Little Rock National Airport. Numerous government entities have used Garver’s services related to planning, engineering and the construction industry since the company was established in 1919.
However, it’s what’s going on inside Garver offices that has helped make a difference as it has not only survived the recent economic downturn, but also continued to grow.
Beverly Green, Garver’s controller, puts that growth rate at more than 17 percent the past three years, including 22 percent from 2008 to 2009.
Chad Clinehens, vice president and chief marketing officer, credits the company’s diversification and strategic planning for these numbers, and also points out what Garver has done for its employees. “Garver has made investments in the internal culture of the company to create a more lifestyle experience for employees rather than just a company experience,” he said. “Those investments are strategically aligned with initiatives that save the company money in areas that subsidize the investments. Those investments include facilities that are adjacent to recreational facilities, offices equipped with fitness centers and monetary incentives for meeting fitness and health goals.”
This, he said, has resulted in healthier and happier employees and has saved more than $750,000 in decreased insurance premiums. Clinehens said he had “received lots of positive feedback” from Garver’s staff, which has increased to almost 300 employees.
“Currently, our biggest challenge is intelligent and controlled growth in this unstable economy,” he said. “We make sure that we do not get stuck doing things like we always have and instead look forward to achieving specific goals for growth and making the necessary changes and modifications in our business structure to achieve those goals.”
