Carson Physical Therapy

Adam Carson’s dream was to open his own physical therapy clinic. He wanted to start his practice in his hometown, but in 2002 Benton already had several clinics.
After thumbing through the phone book, Carson discovered that there was no PT provider just up the interstate at Bryant. So he opened Carson Physical Therapy there in 2003 in a 1,500-SF office.
The clinic has been seeing steady growth ever since. With 11 employees, the company treats about 150 patients a week for orthopedic and sports medicine injuries.
By 2005, the firm had expanded to a 2,000-SF office, and in 2009, he moved the company into 4,200 SF, said Carson, who is the director and CEO of the practice. In January 2010, the company added another office, Carson Physical Therapy East End, and in November it expanded to Benton, said Carson, who co-owns the business with his wife, Jenny Carson.
He said one of the reasons the company had been successful was because the clinic feels like home. Each treatment room has a different theme, such as the Elvis room.
“We didn’t want it at all to feel clinical,” Carson said. “If you’re comfortable where you are, the rehab experience is better.”
The staff also will work out payment plans with patients if they can’t afford their insurance co-payments.
“You’re hit with the co-pay three times a week, which adds up quickly,” Carson said.
Carson said he was adding programs that focus on preventing injuries. This spring he plans to start an exercise program for high school students to help them avoid knee injuries. “Prevention is the key,” he said.
