Paragould

Teleflora LLC of Paragould wanted its employees to have a say in where company donations to charitable organizations were going.
So in 2006, Teleflora, which connects customers to more than 15,000 florists in North America, started the Roll Giving Employee Grant Program, said Hal Wyatt, Teleflora's human resources director.
Under the program, $1,000 is set aside for each employee who has been with the company at least six months. The employee then can distribute the money to as many as three nonprofit organizations, Wyatt said.
As part of the program, if the employee gives money to a nonprofit, Teleflora will match the donation up to $1,000, he said. "Our employees have gotten more involved and very selective about where they want their monies to go to," he said.
Under the program, Teleflora has donated nearly $1 million, Wyatt said.
Teleflora, a subsidiary of Roll Global LLC of Los Angeles, has 208 employees in its Paragould office, Wyatt said.
Teleflora has "always been a big philanthropic organization," Wyatt said.
Other charitable causes include being a sponsor of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in 2010 in Little Rock and raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
In 2009, the company established the Teleflora scholarship through a $10,000 endowment to the Endowment Foundation of Greene County.
Wyatt said the company's owners, Stewart and Lynda Resnick of Los Angeles, "are big into a lot of charitable causes … and have always encouraged their employees to do the same thing."
