Mitchell Communications Group's client list reads like a "who's who" of northwest Arkansas: Wal-Mart, Tyson Foods, J.B. Hunt Transport Services and Southwestern Energy Co.
Elise Mitchell, president and CEO, believes that the quality of the company's clients helps it stay ahead of its competitors, most of which are based in major cities like New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. "We have an all-star client roster," Mitchell said. "Everybody wants to work on Wal-Mart, Tyson, J.B. Hunt. The companies we work with are an excellent match for our culture and our values."
Mitchell said that she firmly believes her company, with its 35 full-time employees and 21 subcontractors, can stand up against its national competitors. "Regardless of where you are, to be best in the class you must be able to compete on a national and global scale. We wanted to be the very best at what we did. We knew that that meant that we would be competing with larger firms that are based in major metropolitan areas."
But Mitchell Communications seems to be doing just fine right where it is. In 2010, the firm was named one of five national finalists for PRWeek's 2010 Boutique Agency of the Year and was given the Customer Service of the Year Award by Wal-Mart Financial Services.
Looking to the future, the company plans to add a research division and a news bureau team. "We want to be able to expand our offering to our clients," Mitchell said. She said that the company had seen opportunities to perform research-based services and wanted to bring that capability in-house.
The news bureau team will manage the company's media relations as well as handle much of the content creation that the company does for its clients in terms of traditional and social media.
Mitchell seems excited about the opportunity to add to the Mitchell Communications team. "We recruit on a national basis and we recruit very high-level talent to work for us."
