After more than 20 years as a familiar name in the information technology industry, The Computer Hut is making moves to increase revenue and grow its staff in 2015.

The company this year plans to double its managed services customers.

Casey Semmler, COO of The Computer Hut, said the changes are part of a “reinventing” process and that it’s focusing on companies with a similar dedication to customer service. Another of the company’s distinguishing characteristics is knowing its customers well, he said.

“Any one of our technicians who work on a specific managed services customer could literally go work at that company because they know what their business processes are, they know how they get work done, they know how they actually generate and drive revenue,” Semmler said.

To keep up with changing trends in technology, the company has daily meetings during which the sales and technology sides share ideas, he said.

“Basically, it starts every day. If you wait for something to happen, if you wait for some new technology to come out and our customers are asking us first about it, then that isn’t service excellence from our perspective,” Semmler said.

The company is currently targeting certain mid-sized customers in need of managed services, which in turn is driving growth at The Computer Hut, which has 24 employees. Such services are becoming imperative for most businesses.

“Technology’s changing so fast that if you’re a mid-sized company or upper mid-sized company and you don’t have somebody like us in your infrastructure every day, who knows your infrastructure, then when new technology comes and changes have to take place or something breaks … you can’t move fast enough,” Semmler said.
