2015 // Arkansas Community Foundation's Outstanding Philanthropic Corporations

Jonesboro and Rogers

Unilever employs 601 people in Rogers and Jonesboro and encourages all of them to give back to the community — and they are doing just that.

The company, a major manufacturer of food and personal care brands, is headquartered in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, and has about 10,000 employees in the United States.

Unilever allows employees to take three work days per calendar year to volunteer, and employee donations are also matched at 50 percent per year, up to $10,000. The corporation also has a national program to donate food and personal care items to local food banks.

In the 2013-14 fiscal year, employees in Arkansas logged more than 2,300 volunteer hours. In Arkansas, product donations are made to the Northeast Arkansas Regional AIDS Network, Beck PRIDE Center, Arkansas Baptist Children’s Homes, the American Cancer Society and Hope Week for the Salvation Army. The company also distributes gift baskets for various fundraisers and events.

The Jonesboro facility, where hair and skin care products are manufactured, organizes an annual Relay for Life team, works with Consolidated Youth Services and established a community garden to provide fresh produce. More than 1,000 pounds of eight different kinds of vegetables were donated to the Northeast Arkansas Food Bank in 2014.

In Rogers, where a customer service office is located, the company works with the Boys & Girls Club and the Jones Center for Families, sends volunteers to community organizations such as Samaritan House and donates to Champions for Kids, the American Heart Association, the Walton Arts Center Take a Seat program and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
