Nelson Intelligence Solutions has seen rapid growth after starting as a one-man operation.

Eric W. Nelson, the CEO, started the company in 2016 after a 20-year career with the U.S. Marine Corps. Nelson worked for another company that did intelligence and geospatial analytics before deciding to go off on his own.

“I jumped off that cliff and started Nelson Intelligence Solutions,” Nelson said.

Nelson has gone from working in his basement to opening offices in Little Rock and Virginia. His staff doubled from 17 employees to nearly 40 in the last year, and Nelson expects another robust growth year in 2024.

“What we do is we take the baseline data that the government already has in its holdings for Country X around the globe, whatever country it is, and we get actual imagery — updating the mapping data,” Nelson said. “In this day and age, it’s not just lines and polygons and points anymore. It’s the metadata behind it. We update that information and provide it back to the government.”
