Lexicon Inc. is one of the best-known family-owned steel fabrication and construction companies in America.

Tom Schueck founded the company 55 years ago and led it until his death in 2020. By 1998 it had annual revenue of $152 million. Last year, revenue was $1 billion.

The company, now run by Patrick Schueck, has about 2,000 employees with divisions in fabrication, erection, construction management, mechanical equipment installation, industrial maintenance, energy services and even golf course construction.

Lexicon works on large, complex projects, emphasizing quality and safety, and considers itself a “people business.” It has worked on billion-dollar-plus projects for Nucor Steel and U.S. Steel across the country, as well as BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston.

“Our business is doing well in the current environment,” said Marketing Director Bill Fitzgerald. “We are working in some of the hottest segments … including electric vehicle battery manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, steel manufacturing and data processing and warehousing facilities.”
