You don’t get to 100 years old without innovating. And logistics firm ArcBest Corp. of Fort Smith is continuing to make shipping more efficient, right down to loading and unloading trailers.

In 2023, it launched the Vaux Freight Movement System to solve problems with how freight is moved from trailer to warehouse and vice versa, including dock congestion and increased dwell times for drivers, who must wait as forklifts handle multiple pallets.

Developed in Fort Smith, the Vaux system reimagines the process, using a single configurable platform, the Vaux MP, that slides inside a trailer, holding multiple pallets of cargo. A device called the MP Coupler attaches to a forklift, allowing the forklift to remove the entire platform and its cargo in one trip. Once in the warehouse, multiple forklifts can unload the Vaux MP from all sides.

Vaux software tracks the platform throughout the supply chain and optimizes how cargo is arranged in the trailer and warehouse. ArcBest says there is no other system like it in logistics.
