1 min read

Tetra Technologies Inc., an oil and gas services company, breaks ground Thursday on a new chemical processing facility in El Dorado.

Tetra said it is investing $100 million in a 500,000-SF facility, which will employ 50 people at 295 Feedmill Road. About 400 workers will take part in construction, expected to be completed by 2009.

The plant will be a calcium chloride processing facility.

"We have chosen South Arkansas for several reasons," Jim Tidwell, general manager of Tetra’s south Arkansas operation, said in a news release. "It is a positive business environment that includes a quality labor force and a government that understands health growing companies provide and underpinning for the local economy."

The calcium chloride will be supplied as feedstock for Tetra’s completion fluids business as well as for applications in a variety of other markets.

The publicly traded firm is traded on the New York Stock Exchange and headquartered at The Woodlands, Texas.
