The Root Café in Little Rock has been awarded a $50,000 grant from a program that funds upgrades and renovations to small restaurants.
The grant comes from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express’s “Backing Historic Small Restaurants” program. Recipients also received one year of free service from restaurant reservation platform Resy to help streamline costs and boost restaurant operations.
The Root Café received the grant as it moves toward opening a second location at the Breckenridge Village shopping center in west Little Rock.
The grant program, now in its fourth year, awarded $2.5 million to 50 independently owned small restaurants this year. The program has distributed funds to a total of 125 restaurants to date in every U.S. state.
Lindsay’s Hospitality House in Little Rock was among last year’s grant recipients.
