The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has announced that Ginger Gummelt will serve as the next dean of the College of Business, Health and Human Services (CBHHS), effective July 1.
She joins UA Little Rock from Lamar University, where she most recently served as the department chair of sociology, social work, criminal justice and anthropology. In that role, she worked to expand academic initiatives, strengthen community partnerships and enhance workforce development opportunities for students.
“Her commitment to fostering relationships between the university and the community aligns with our mission to provide educational experiences that connect students to real-world opportunities,” Ann Bain, provost and executive vice chancellor, said in a press release.
Gummelt holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas Woman’s University and a master’s degree and doctorate in social work from the University of Houston. She has experience in interdisciplinary leadership, student success and program development.
“I look forward to working alongside faculty, staff, and community stakeholders to build on the college’s strengths, create new opportunities for student success and further deepen UA Little Rock’s connections with the community and workforce,” Gummelt said in the release.
She will succeed Tom Clifton, who has served as interim dean of CBHHS for the past two years.
