Wayne-Sanderson Farms of Oakwood, Georgia, on Thursday announced the opening of a new $43 million feed mill at the poultry producer’s complex in Danville.
The facility is designed to produce more than 8,500 tons of feed per week, supporting 130 family farm partners throughout the region, the Arkansas Economic Development Corporation said in a news release.
The mill is equipped with advanced automation technology to produce nine types of feed formulations tailored to various nutritional needs, ranging from baby chick feed to broiler, pullet and hen formulas. The mill includes two dedicated receiving systems capable of unloading up to 26,500 bushels of soy or corn grain per hour, and operates entirely on truck-delivered ingredients to optimize supply chain efficiency.
“This facility enhances our operational efficiency, supports the family farms at the heart of our supply chain, and reinforces our commitment to sustainable poultry production in Arkansas,” Kevin McDaniel, president and CEO of Wayne-Sanderson Farms, said in the release.
The mill also offers expanded storage for feed products and ingredients, along with additional warehouse space for inventory management. The facility will source corn and other grains from local farmers.
The mill currently employs 19 people.
