Banking & Finance

Blake Barns

Blake Barns has been hired by First Horizon Bank of Memphis as a senior financial adviser. He will work in the bank’s Bentonville office. Barns previously worked as a senior financial adviser at Wells Fargo Advisors of St. Louis.

Cyndi Hamric has been promoted to loan accounting manager at AgHeritage Farm Credit Services of Little Rock. She has worked at the company for 28 years and previously worked as a senior finance specialist. Josie Fletcher, CPA, has been promoted to assistant controller. She joined the company in 2022 as a financial reporting specialist.

Cody Mathews

Cody Mathews has been appointed to Arvest Bank of Fayetteville’s local board of directors in Springdale. He is the owner and operator of 34 McDonald’s restaurants in Arkansas and Oklahoma. Mathews has also served on the board of the Springdale Chamber of Commerce.

Kelly Carlson

Kelly Carlson has been named president of Arvest Bank’s greater Kansas City market. He joined Arvest in 2008 and most recently served as executive vice president and loan manager for the bank’s Benton County market. Arvest has 20 banks and $2.1 billion in assets in the Kansas City market.

Marie Rians has joined Stone Bank of Mountain View as senior credit analyst and underwriter. She is coming from Heifer International of Little Rock where she was director of finance and portfolio management.

Education

Lauren Selby

Lauren Selby has been named associate director of development of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville’s Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food & Life Sciences. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in sports management from the university.

Health Care

Dr. C. Lowry Barnes, professor and chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, has been named interim chancellor. Joining UAMS in 2014, he is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint reconstruction and hip and knee replacement surgery.

Taren Massey-Swindle

Dr. Taren Massey-Swindle, a researcher at the Arkansas Children’s Research Institute in Little Rock and associate professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, has been awarded the Fulbright Specialist Program grant. The grant will allow her to travel to Australia and share her skills with researchers and practitioners at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane.

Nonprofits

The board of directors of the Methodist Foundation for Arkansas of Little Rock has elected new members. They include Kathy Conley, lay leader of the Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church of Little Rock; Maurica Dooley, farmer and co-owner of Happy Farms Feed & Farm Supply of Forrest City; Beverly Lyn-Cook, senior interdisciplinary research biologist in the Division of Biochemical Toxicology at the National Center for Toxicological Research of Jefferson; Dr. Stephen Routon, a radiologist with CARTI in Little Rock; Megan Rugg, chief financial officer at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church in Little Rock; Jonathan VanHorn, founder and president of Tooth & Coin of Little Rock; and Rev. Dane Womack, senior pastor of First United Methodist Church of Paragould.

Real Estate

Karrie Nuckols has joined Gabel Realty of Fayetteville. She is a licensed real estate agent and has worked in northwest Arkansas for almost 20 years. Nuckols is leaving Collier & Associates Realty of Fayetteville after four years.

Utilities

Robert McCray, lead installer technician at Conway Corp., has announced his retirement after 26 years at the utility.
