Little Rock Climbing Center Considers Move to Brewery SiteLock Icon

The Little Rock Climbing Center is looking to expand to a larger facility to meet growing demand, according to owner Daniel Carnahan.

He’s currently exploring the Diamond Bear Brewing Co. location in North Little Rock.

“Our gym climbers are creatures of habit, and they need more space to climb, more height,” Carnahan said. He hasn’t yet decided whether to operate both locations or close the original facility on Colonel Glenn Road.

There have already been meetings with the North Little Rock Planning Department, primarily focused on compliance with city policy.

“We have attracted interest from investors, but there is still much work to be done,” a June 25 Facebook comment from the climbing gym stated.

Carnahan said the gym is profitable, but that he uses profits to grow the gym, including a $50,000 purchase of a Kilter Board, a climbing wall with adjustable angles, in 2023. He became the owner of the gym in 2022 after working there for more than a decade.

“Most of the profit, I put back in to make sure that we’re ready to make that next step,” Carnahan said. “When it comes time to get a new big gym, we don’t want to take out a gigantic loan.”
