Morrilton | Employees: 101 | Industry: Health care
CHI St. Vincent Morrilton is taking a creative approach to advancing its mission-driven community care by prioritizing employees’ quality of life, health and wellness.
The hospital keeps fun at the forefront with traditions like themed dress-up days, an annual softball game against local EMTs and a community barbecue. Acknowledgment of hard work is also emphasized with events like Heritage Week and Co-worker Appreciation Week, where members of the leadership team and peers, respectively, recognize the hard work of staff.
Recruiting the next generation of health care workers is also a goal for the hospital, which actively seeks out Gen Z candidates through social media. Internship opportunities and clear career pathways with room for growth, combined with the purpose-driven work, have helped the hospital keep its turnover at 14% in an industry where 18-20% is typical.
Robust benefits are also part of the nonprofit’s retention success. Full-time and some part-time employees have access to comprehensive health benefits, along with partially paid parental leave. The hospital’s Employee Assistance Program additionally provides counseling and caregiver support for staff.
