Latriece Watkins has been promoted to president and chief executive officer of Sam’s Club U.S. In this role, Watkins will oversee domestic operations and guide strategy for the retailer. “There’s undeniable momentum here, and I’m honored to lead the next chapter by protecting and amplifying our culture, fully leveraging the power of our company, and winning omnichannel retail together and with intention,” she said in a post on LinkedIn.
Watkins most recently served as executive vice president and chief merchandising officer of Walmart U.S. She has served in numerous leadership roles across Walmart and Sam’s Club, including senior director of real estate, senior vice president enterprise strategy and executive vice president. She has helped transform Walmart’s assortment strategy while driving operational excellence and upholding shopping experience standards. “Over my 32 years with Walmart, I’ve seen that our people are our greatest competitive advantage,” new Walmart Inc. President and CEO John Furner said in a press release announcing several leadership appointments. “These internal promotions reflect our culture of opportunity and the depth of our leadership bench.”
Watkins holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and government from Spelman College in Atlanta. She earned her law degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville.
