Arkansans for Strong Communities, the group advocating for a state constitutional amendment to create economic development districts, has raised more than $170,000, according to state campaign finance records.

The biggest donations to the group, led by the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce, have been $50,000 from the Central Arkansas Council, $50,000 from Arkansas Economic Developers & Chamber Executives, $20,000 from the Arkansas chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America, $15,000 from the State Chamber, $10,000 from TerraForma of Maumelle and $10,000 from Harly Enterprises of Benton.

Last year, the Arkansas Legislature referred a constitutional amendment for voters to consider on the November 2026 ballot that would allow cities and counties to offer economic incentives through economic development districts.

The public’s contributions to economic development projects could be made in the form of rebates on sales taxes or property taxes, grants or loans. Advocates have said other states, including Texas, already offer this economic incentive.

Election day is Nov. 3.
