Wellness & Courage Counseling Services

2026 Arkansas Business of the Year // Category 2 (31-55 Employees)

Fayetteville

The idea behind Wellness & Courage Counseling is implicit in the name, said co-founder Wendy Johnson: “We’re dealing with people who are searching to be the best version of themselves, and to be that, it takes a lot of courage.”

Johnson and her cousin Jamy Hunter launched the mental health outpatient therapy group in 2018 in Fayetteville and added two locations in 2021, in Farmington and Bentonville. It now employs about 40 therapists and serves 4,000 to 5,000 clients.

Johnson and Hunter said they are proud to have hired therapists from a diverse range of backgrounds and ages to help their clients. They’ve worked hard to build their business, “but we couldn’t have done it without our therapists,” Johnson said.

They credit their success to three attributes: authentic and effective communication among the leadership, a deep-rooted belief and love for each other, and not having a “scarcity mindset,” instead embracing “abundance and collaboration.”
