Baldwin & Shell Construction Co.

2026 Arkansas Business of the Year // Category 4 (151-499 Employees)

Little Rock

Baldwin & Shell Construction Co. will celebrate its 80th year in business this year, and the Little Rock-based builder shows no signs of slowing down.

Founded in 1946, the company is the oldest vertical contractor in Arkansas. The company’s portfolio includes recent notable projects like the restoration of the Arkansas Capitol Building in Little Rock and the construction of the Heartland Whole Health Institute in Bentonville.

With its 225 employees, the company has completed more than 500 K-12 educational projects and was the first contractor in the state to build its own LEED Gold-certified office building. The company — which has additional offices in Jonesboro, Rogers and Memphis — has active projects in Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana in addition to Arkansas.

And after eight decades in business, the company has plenty of stability: President and CEO Bobby Gosser is only the fourth person to lead the company.
