University of Central Arkansas Foundation

2026 Arkansas Business of the Year // Nonprofit Organization

Conway

In 1981, the University of Central Arkansas Foundation set out to transform the public university into an engine of opportunity. Over four decades, that mission has distributed more than $20 million in scholarships, helping thousands of Arkansas students earn degrees who might not have.

The organization’s impact has accelerated dramatically. A comprehensive campaign launched before the pandemic closed 10 months early and $9 million over its $100 million goal, engaging 18,000 donors and doubling the foundation’s net assets to more than $94 million. That momentum enabled UCA Commitment, a debt-free degree program for Arkansas families earning $100,000 or less that has enrolled more than 1,300 freshmen in two years.

With 900 students now receiving more than $1 million annually in privately funded aid — much directed toward first-generation college students and those with significant financial need — the foundation addresses a persistent challenge facing public universities: declining state support.
