Hidalga Technologies’ tools are complex, but its mission is simple: help cancer patients get treatment sooner.

Born out of CEO Joshua Upshaw’s experience watching his late stepfather suffer delays in care for cancer, Hidalga is developing artificial intelligence-driven platforms to help clinics process paperwork and obtain approval from insurance companies faster.

Hidalga’s solutions stand out because they can adjust to the needs of the user, from the clinic to the individual worker down to even the individual patient.

The journey has been long, Upshaw said, and while the company is already in talks with a number of clinics in the South and Midwest, there is still a long way to go. 

“For me at the end of the day I go back to my why: I want to make a positive impact on the people I know are struggling in our world,” he said.

Hidalga is likely to expand its offerings to other subspecialties beyond oncology in the future.
