Southwestern Energy Opens Regional Office In Conway

1 min read

Southwestern Energy of Houston on Tuesday celebrated the opening of its new regional office in Conway.

The $25 million, 120,000-SF building is located at The Village at Hendrix, a neighborhood development of Hendrix College.

"This facility is another indication that we are committed to our operation in the Fayetteville Shale," Steve Mueller, president and CEO of Southwestern, said. "We are dedicated to our position in Arkansas."

Also on at the event were U.S. Sen. John Boozman, R-Ark., and Conway Mayor Tab Townsell.

Southwestern Energy is seeking LEED certification for the building, which used recycled and regional building materials as well as reduced-emission products for construction. The building houses about 320 employees, with room available for growth.

Townsell praised Southwestern Energy’s work in the Fayetteville Shale, and said he was proud to have the company’s regional office in Conway. He said he believed much of the community’s economic prosperity in the recession was related to the company’s work in the shale play.

The new office includes a community gallery showcasing the work of artists living in the Fayetteville Shale play. Bill Ward, a photographer and author, is the first artist featured in the gallery, which is open to the public.

Southwestern Energy is the largest operator in the Fayetteville Shale play, producing about 1,635 million cubic feet of gas per day.
