Wal-Mart U.S. Names New Chief Merchandising Officer

Duncan Mac Naughton, executive vice president of merchandising at Wal-Mart U.S., has been named chief merchandising officer for U.S. stores, effective immediately, the company announced Friday.

Mac Naughton joined Wal-Mart in 2009, as chief merchandising officer for Wal-Mart Canada. He was named executive vice president of merchandising for Wal-Mart U.S. in October 2010, and became responsible for consumables, health and wellness and Walmart.com.

In a news release, Mac Naughton said he was happy to a new opportunity within Wal-Mart.

"Our team is more committed than ever to our mission of saving people money," Mac Naughton said. "We intend to make the shopping experience more fun for our customers."

Bill Simon, Wal-Mart’s U.S. president and CEO, said the retailer is "fortunate to have outstanding, seasoned leadership" across its merchant organization.

In his new role, Mac Naughton will be responsible for overseeing all merchandise categories for more than 3,700 U.S. stores.
