Hatton Weeks, news director of KAIT-TV, Channel 8 in Jonesboro since 2008, is leaving the ABC affiliate to lead the newsroom at WLBT-TV, Channel 3 in Jackson, Mississippi.
The NBC affiliate is owned by Raycom Media Inc. of Montgomery, Alabama. Raycom also owns KAIT.
Weeks begins his new job next month, according to a story on WLBT’s website.
“As a journalist and news director, Hatton’s longtime commitment to KAIT’s viewers is truly special,” Chris Conroy, KAIT’s Vice President and General Manager told WLBT. “WLBT and the people of Mississippi are getting a top notch journalist and a strong leader.”

The move takes Weeks from Jonesboro, a television market ranked No. 181 in the country by Nielsen, to Jackson, a market raked No. 94.
Weeks began at KAIT in 1996 while attending Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. He joined KTHV-TV, Channel 11, the Gannett Co.-owned CBS affiliate in 1999 as a reporter and producer.
He returned to KAIT in 2006 as assistant news director, and was promoted to news director in 2008.
