Remember that 0.17-acre piece of land in North Little Rock that was the subject of an eminent domain filing? Well, here’s some more news on that.
Pulaski County Circuit Judge Alice Gray has signed an order of possession for the property, which granted title to Magellan Pipeline Co. LP, a subsidiary of Magellan Midstream Partners LP of Tulsa, in exchange for $468 deposited with the court.
You might remember the pipeline company filed the petition after landowner Jayvian J. Johnson declined to respond to its original offer of $3,065 for the land.
The petition sought a 50-foot permanent easement and right of way for a pipeline project and a 30-foot temporary easement as a workspace.
Magellan filed a motion to dismiss the case Jan. 28, stating that Johnson had signed off on an easement and right-of-way agreement, which settled their arguments.
The 12-inch steel pipeline will transport up to 75,000 barrels per day of refined petroleum products, including gasoline and jet fuel, from Magellan’s Fort Smith terminal to Little Rock. The company plans to have the pipeline online by early 2016.
The project is estimated to cost about $150 million.
A second petition for condemnation has been filed against Larry and Pat Adams, who live in Lonoke County.
The pipeline company is asking the court for a similar easement on their property in exchange for $3,195, but originally offered them $6,000.
The couple has not yet responded to the petition.
