A&P Accuse White Water Tavern of Having Choppy Tax Bill

1 min read

The Little Rock Advertising & Promotion Commission is trying to shut down the White Water Tavern, claiming the bar and restaurant has not paid A&P taxes for seven months of 2014.

In a lawsuit filed in Pulaski County Circuit Court, the commission asked that White Water not be allowed to operate until it paid $1,092 in taxes from May to November 2014 or a compromise or payment plan has been agreed to.

Alex Gray, an attorney representing the commission in the case, wrote in court filings that the commission has not heard from the bar’s owner or registered agent since sending a notice to them Jan. 6.

The bar is operated by Winter Winds LLC, which was registered with the state by Nick Coffin of Little Rock, and is owned by Sean Hughes.

Gray argued that the bar is still in operation, despite the unpaid tax bill, which violates state law, the city code and the commission’s tax regulations.

White Water has not yet responded to the complaint in court, and a phone message was not returned by press time.

In other financial matters, the Pulaski County treasurer filed a certificate of indebtedness against White Water in December for $4,628.85 in personal property taxes. But the treasurer released the lien against the bar on Jan. 14, stating that it had been paid in full.
