Stacy Lynn Duckett
Stacy Lynn Duckett of North Little Rock, vice president, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary at Southwest Power Pool in Little Rock, died Friday, March 20, at age 50.
Duckett began working at SPP in 2000 as an attorney in the transmission and regulatory policy group, according to an obituary on the company’s website. She “quickly assumed project-management responsibilities, was named director of corporate affairs, and served as general counsel prior to her most recent executive position,” the obituary said.
“Our dear friend and colleague has taken her final journey home,” SPP President and CEO Nick Brown said in an email to staff. “It’s been both a painful and inspiring trip to witness, and I’m grateful that she is finally at peace. Please continue to keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.”
Before joining SPP, Duckett had worked at TCBY Enterprises Inc. of Little Rock, eventually becoming vice president and assistant general counsel.
Duckett, who received a bachelor’s degree from Hendrix College in Conway in 1986, completed her law degree at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law while working full time.
In 1999, she was recognized as one of Arkansas Business’ 40 Under 40. Of earning a law degree while working full time, Duckett said, “It’s not something you recommend for everybody. It requires self-discipline and focus.”
Duckett was active in civic affairs, serving as the 2014-15 chair of the Hendrix College Alumni Association Board of Governors. In addition, she chaired and served on the boards of CareLink, Heart of Arkansas United Way, Youth Home and the Arkansas Track & Field Hall of Fame.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Ruebel Funeral Home. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Little Rock. A reception will follow at the church.
