Realtors: Arkansas Home Sales Up 9 Percent

Arkansas home sales increased by more than 9 percent in February while the price of those homes went up by more than 6 percent, according to data released Friday by the Arkansas Realtors Association.

The average price of the homes sold in the 43-county area surveyed by the association increased from $146,902 in February 2014 to $155,901 in February 2015. Meanwhile, statewide valuations in February increased by more than 15 percent from 2014.

Benton and Pulaski counties reported the most units sold for February. The top five counties for units sold in February:

  • Pulaski: 323 units sold, up 17.9 percent from the 274 sold in February 2014.
  • Benton: 293 units sold, up 0.3 percent from 292 last year.
  • Washington: 197, up 23.9 percent from 159 last year.
  • Saline: 109, up 4.8 percent from 104 last year. 
  • Faulkner: 98, down 19 percent from 121 last year.

Statewide totals reported by the association were 1,955 units sold, up 9 percent from the 1,793 units sold in February 2014.

Benton and Washington counties saw the highest average home prices in February. The top five counties for highest average home price:

  • Benton: $196,115, up 12.8 percent from $173,917 in February 2014.
  • Washington: $193,882, up 7.7 percent from $180,107 last year.
  • Pulaski: $181,619, up 1 percent from $179,795 last year.
  • Saline: $179,988, up 4.2 percent from $172,805 last year.
  • Faulkner, $163,211, up 21.8 percent from $134,000 last year.

The statewide average for February, according to the group, was $155,901, up 6.1 percent from February 2014.
