The University of Central Arkansas in Conway has launched UCA Online, an online course portal offering three new undergraduate completion programs.
While it does require a one-time on-campus visit and cannot be considered a completely online course, UCA Online now offers an RN to BSN nursing program, which provides a path for registered nurses to pursue a Bachelor of Science in nursing.
In addition, the university offers online a Bachelor of Science degree in professional studies-health and safety, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in general business.
Enrollment is open for UCA Online and classes begin on Aug. 20. UCA Online also offers numerous graduate, doctoral and certificate programs.
“We are very excited about it because our faculty have been very supportive and helpful in this venture in order to make sure that the quality of the online education will still be the high quality education that UCA stands by,” said Christina Madsen, the university’s associate vice president for communications, public relations and marketing.
UCA Online, which is now operational in 16 states, will widen its reach to 37 states, as well as abroad, in the coming weeks, said Chris Davis, UCA’s chief technology officer. Davis said the idea behind UCA Online started two and a half years ago, but that his team — which includes Michael Judge, who was hired by UCA as its director of online learning three months ago — has been working “aggressively” on the project for the past year.
