Venture Center Launches Pitch ‘N Pint Contest

1 min read

The Venture Center launched its Pitch ‘N Pint series of startup pitch contests on Saturday night. Its first two winners were the audience choice, Cart Delivered from Josh Ayres, and the judges’ pick, Merger Match from Alese Stroud and Bridget Farris.

Winners won $1,000 and all participants — more than 20 pitched — received a ticket to the Venture Center’s upcoming 2 Days to Startup program. Participants had 60 seconds to pitch their startup idea.

Merger Match is a Venture Center pre-accelerator graduate and member company.

The inaugural Pitch ‘N Pint was held at the Flying Saucer in Little Rock’s River Market District. Audience members voted via text for their favorite idea, as is done in the G60 pitch contest organized by Innovate Arkansas.

“Ideation programs like Pitch ‘N Pint offer the community a peek into the exciting strides that the entrepreneurial community is making in Little Rock and around central Arkansas,” said Lee Watson, president and CEO of the Venture Center, in a news release. “This type of ideation is a strategic part of the Venture Center’s process to cultivate and grow successful, scalable businesses and has resulted in the creation of 53 new knowledge-based jobs in the Little Rock community.”
