Arkansas Lighthouse for the Blind said Thursday that it plans to expand its workforce by 58 percent and is looking to add 29 full-time jobs in its sewing operations department for people who are blind or visually impaired.
The Little Rock nonprofit provides training for the blind and visually impaired, and no experience is required for its jobs.
ALB, in partnership with Industries for the Blind in North Carolina, employs more people who are blind than any other U.S. agency, according to a news release. Seventy-five percent of its workforce hours are performed by the blind or visually impaired.
ALB is located at 6818 Murray Street in Little Rock.
“We are continuing to grow, adding more products and locations,” said Jay Swindle, director of Operations at ALB. “We encourage people who are legally blind to apply.”
ALB’s mission is to provide employment, training, and services for people who are blind or visually impaired, it said.
