Your Whispers correspondent got a behind-the-scenes look at the “Antiques Roadshow,” the PBS program that visited Little Rock July 25.
We joined in the “green room” (actually, a spot behind some curtains at the Statehouse Convention Center) a friend whose ancestor’s Civil War powder flasks were chosen to be appraised on camera.
Joining us there while waiting for their close-ups were Mayor Mark Stodola (Limoges china brought by family from the Old Country) and Sissy Jones of Sissy’s Log Cabin, whose antique silver wine urn, a gift from her husband, Murphy, turned out to be worth a pretty penny — many, many pretty pennies.
This visit was the second to Arkansas by “Antiques Roadshow.” The program came to Hot Springs in 2002. The show filmed in Little Rock will be broadcast sometime in 2016.
