This property at Westchase Plaza adjacent to Immanuel Baptist on Shackleford Road was once the location of a Kroger grocery store.
Immanuel Baptist Church closed Thursday on the former Kroger grocery store at Westchase Plaza, 315 North Shackleford Road in Little Rock. Purchase price on the 45,528-SF building was $3.6 million, according to agents involved in the deal.
“We received several offers on the property,” Todd Rice, a principal at Colliers International Arkansas, said in a news release. “Ultimately, Immanuel Baptist became the most likely buyer because the former store is conveniently located adjacent to their current property. It was just a natural fit for them.”
The building was completed in 1984 and occupied by Kroger through February.
According to Mark Carter, associate pastor for business administration and discipleship at Immanuel, the new property will be used for overflow parking initially and later developed into an area for more ministry opportunities. The exact use has not yet been decided.
“We learned about it [being for sale] much like the community did that it became available after Kroger had chosen to close that store,” Carter said. “Any property that has opportunity to pursue adjacent property is just a good business decision.”
The church’s current building is about 215,000 SF.
Todd Rice of Colliers International represented Kroger in the transaction. Daryl Peeples of Flake and Kelley Commercial represented Immanuel Baptist.
