QualChoice said Tuesday that its QualChoice Advantage product added more than 1,000 new members during the Medicare annual enrollment period for 2016, its first year offering the product.
“We’re happy to be part of the local community, and to offer stable benefits and access to local doctors and hospitals,” said Mike Stock, president of QualChoice Advantage, in a news release.
By comparison, industry leader Arkansas Blue Cross & Blue Shield enrolled 18,300 people in its Medicare Advantage product in December and had 20,150 signed up as of Jan. 1, according to Blue Cross spokesperson Max Greenwood.
QualChoice Advantage is a private, nonprofit Medicare health plan that was founded in 2015 by Prominence Health, a subsidiary of Catholic Health Initiatives.
Based in Little Rock, QualChoice Advantage offers one Medicare Advantage plan to members in Conway, Garland, Lonoke, Perry and Pulaski counties.
