University of the Ozarks Holds Line on Tuition Costs

1 min read

The University of the Ozarks in Clarksville will announce it will not raise tuition costs for the third consecutive year.

The board of trustees voted at a Feb. 6 meeting to keep costs for tuition, room and board at $30,840 for the 2016-17 academic year. The university’s board of trustees also voted to eliminate $690 in compulsory student fees for 2016-17.

“University of the Ozarks has always been committed to providing a truly well-rounded college education to students from diverse backgrounds; it is central to our mission of educational services,” President Richard Dunsworth said.

“We are particularly happy that our students who started in the fall of 2013 will have experienced a reduction in the cost of attendance in both real terms and when adjusted for inflation over their four years here.”

The private Presbyterian-affiliated university said its annual tuition is 35 percent less than the national average of $43,921 for private universities.

University of the Ozarks said enrollment increased 11 percent this past year to 650, the third consecutive year it has seen an increase, and its freshman retention rate was 75 percent, its highest rate in 20 years.

“Our efforts to control costs and improve quality are resonating with both prospective students and current students,” Dunsworth said.
