Will this be the year that construction gets rolling on the Rock City Marina & Yacht Club in Little Rock?
Yes is the word we get from owner/developer John Burkhalter regarding his “labor of love.”
But that affirmation carries a qualifier.
First-phase construction of 125 slips requires four to five months of stable, low pool conditions on the Arkansas River.
If things work out, docks should be floating at the end of East Second Street before Thanksgiving.
That would be followed next year by the construction of the 168-unit Residence at Harbortown.
Burkhalter has owned the 16.1-acre property since 2006.
The launch of the project has suffered from a cry-wolf syndrome of overly optimistic timetables for gaining the necessary permits.
