Shawn Reed has jumped aboard The Ride, KHLR-FM, 106.7, taking the air from 2 to 7 p.m. on the country-format station.
A Milwaukee native, Reed started in radio at age 17 and got his degree at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Then came a decade as a sports broadcaster and announcer in Wisconsin, Montana, North Dakota and central Illinois.
“I’ve enjoyed The Ride as much as you can enjoy any job on the first week, plus about 200 percent; the listeners and my co-workers have been wonderful,” Reed said after packing his belongings in Illinois for a more literal ride with his father back to Little Rock.
He can’t wait to see the Arkansas Travelers play. “As much as I love radio, I love baseball even more,” said Reed, who has been the PA voice of several minor league parks. “I’m going to go introduce myself at Dickey-Stephens Park. Maybe they need an extra lemonade seller or tarp roller.”
