The DRX-Excel Plus system.
Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett has completed a seven-year, $5 million renovation of its radiology department, becoming the first in the country to install Carestream’s new DRX-Excel Plus radiography/fluoroscopy system.
“The DRX-Excel Plus system is an important tool for evaluating patients who may be seriously injured or critically ill,” CEO Phillip Gilmore said in a news release. “Its ability to provide rapid digital X-ray imaging studies and fluoroscopy exams allows our physicians to evaluate each patient’s condition and prepare them for transport to tertiary hospitals if needed.”
According to the hospital, the device cuts patient radiation by up to 80 percent. The machine also allows access for wheelchair patients, stretchers and pediatric patients.
Ashley County Medical Center’s emergency department averages around 750 patients a month.
The department also installed the first Fuji Aspire Cristalle Digital Mammography unit in Arkansas. The 3,736-SF department also underwent cosmetic improvements, including new flooring and paint. According to Radiology Director Ronnie Dillon, the department had not undergone a renovation for about 18 years.
