Arkansas Children’s Hospital announced Friday night its public campaign to raise $70 million for its children’s hospital in northwest Arkansas.
The Care Close to Home campaign has already secured commitments totaling $53 million toward its goal, said Marcy Doderer, president and CEO of Arkansas Children’s.
“We will raise the remaining dollars over the next several years,” she said.
The public campaign was unveiled during ACH’s annual Color of Hope Gala in Springdale, where those in attendance included the companies, families and individuals who have donated to Arkansas Children’s Northwest.
Also at the soiree were “some of the children of northwest Arkansas who have had to seek care in Little Rock,” Doderer said. “The time is coming soon where they can receive their own care close to home and not have to go to Little Rock.”
The gala caps a banner week for the project, which received a $15 million donation from the Tyson family on Tuesday. Other prominent companies and families have contributed millions more, building what its chief fundraiser, Fred Scarborough, called a “tapestry of support.”
The 233,613-SF Arkansas Children’s Northwest is expected to open in January 2018, which will make it the region’s only pediatric health care center.
The project is expected to cost $427.7 million over the next five years and will create 250 new jobs.
