In the more than 33 years since Bill Harrison acquired a Trane franchise for Arkansas under the name Harrison Trane, his company has grown and expanded its capabilities to include a variety of HVAC and energy solutions for numerous healthcare facilities, K-12 schools and higher education campuses, government installations, manufacturing facilities, commercial real estate, corporate office spaces and worship centers.
The company, now known as Harrison Energy Partners, has also developed an employee environment that’s second to none.
“Harrison Energy Partners’ environment is one in which employees enjoy sharing their time,” said Mike McClellan, president. “The camaraderie and family-like environment make working as a team while competing for business very rewarding.”
The Little Rock company’s focus on the employee begins with creating safe working conditions and policies that help reduce the number of accidents to nearly zero. Last year, the company had just one recordable incident out of more than 280,000 working hours. This earned Harrison Energy Partners the Arkansas General Contractors’ Excellence in Safety award.
“We are a safe organization where our employees are willing to learn about safety on the job, on the road and at home,” McClellan said. “Work is important in life, but family and home is more important and we want our folks to be safe to and from work and while at work so they can enjoy their life and family.”
The company has done more than pay lip service to health and wellness issues among its 150-person workforce. Harrison Energy partners has also invested in an in-house, 24-hour gym for employees and their spouses, awards incentive pay to employees who take the challenge to stop tobacco use or lower their BMI and it contracts with Baptist Health to provide free on-site employee and spouse health assessments and flu shots.
“I’ve had the privilege to come to work here every day of my 27-year career. Harrison Energy Partners is a great environment; I’ve been treated as a family member and I’m proud to have had the opportunity to work my way up in a company and truly learn a business.” — Mike McClellan, President
Equally important in the company’s value system is education. The firm’s leadership supports pursuit of educational opportunities for career advancement, financial support to pursue career goals, professional organizations and network opportunities and for continuing education via conferences, seminars and training opportunities to maintain current licensure and professional certifications.
“We commit to hiring employees that are committed to learning,” McClellan said. “The business world has so many challenges today, but a workforce willing to learn can adapt to those challenges. We offer a 100 percent tuition reimbursement program for education and encourage our associates to participate while accommodating their work schedules.”
On the strength of these and the company’s other employee-centric policies and programs, Harrison Energy Partners received its second “Best Places to Work” honor.
