Sissy Jones
Sissy Jones, founder of jewelry store Sissy’s Log Cabin and a legendary presence in Arkansas’ retail world, has been inducted into National Jeweler magazine’s Retailer Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame recognizes “jewelers who have made significant contributions to jewelry retailing and inspired their peers,” and the magazine will publish a special issue in mid-May featuring Jones and two other inductees.
Jones is only the second Arkansan to be inducted into the National Jeweler’s Retail Hall of Fame; William Underwood of Underwood’s Fine Jewelers in Fayetteville was honored in 1991.
It’s the latest of a number of honors for Jones, who last year was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Women’s Jewelry Association and was inducted into the WJA’s Hall of Fame. She has also won the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Arkansas Jewelry Association and was named the Retailer of the Year by the WJA and the 2015 Arkansan of the Year by Easter Seals.
Jones founded Sissy’s Log Cabin in Pine Bluff in 1970, and in addition to Pine Bluff has stores in Little Rock, Jonesboro and Memphis, Tennessee. Three generations of the Jones family now work at the business.
The Retailer Hall of Fame recognized Jones in the multistore independent category. Also honored are John Henne, owner and president of Henne Jewelers in Pittsburgh, in the single-store independent category, and Jean-Christophe Bedos, president and CEO of Birks Group Inc. of Montreal, in the major stores category.
