Ensono Buys UK-Based Inframon

2 min read

Information technology infrastructure provider Ensono of Chicago, which has a presence in Conway and is a spin-off of Acxiom Corp. of Conway, announced its acquisition of Inframon, a UK-based cloud transformation company.

The companies did not disclose the financial details of the transaction, which closed June 27.

“One of the gaps we had in our product portfolio was the ability to help our clients with their Microsoft, or their Azure, workload,” Ensono CEO Jeff VonDeylen told Arkansas Business this week. “So this was an important feature and capability that we needed to address. We have many of our clients who have been long-time Microsoft clients and were interested in exploring the use of Azure as part of their journey to the cloud.”

He said this acquisition closes that gap for Ensono. The firm delivers hybrid IT services from cloud to mainframe and specializes in helping midsize to large enterprises.

Azure is Microsoft’s cloud service, and it is competing with Amazon Web Services. With this acquisition, Ensono said it is better equipped to help client transition to either of the primary public cloud platforms.

Ensono is also adding Inframon’s clients and 40 employees, meaning Ensono now has more than 1,000 employees and more than 150 clients, VonDeylen said.

Though Ensono has not released a public goal for revenue growth, its expectations are high and the Azure service is a “significant part of our growth projection,” he said. Microsoft claims its Azure revenue is doubling each year, and Ensono expects its new Azure service will fall in line with that trend over the next three years or so.

VonDeylen said Ensono is a $275 million company and would be focusing on U.S. clients that need help transitioning to Microsoft Azure. The firm plans to add 10-15 employees over the next year to meet that demand.

Inframon will operate under its existing name, but as an Ensono company, and remain in Reading, Berkshire.

Ensono’s organizational structure and executive leadership team will also remain in place.

Inframon co-founders Sean Roberts and Gordon McKenna will stay on as general manager of Microsoft cloud services and as chief technology officer of Microsoft cloud services, respectively.

They will report to Brian Klingbeil, Ensono’s chief operating officer.
