Jonesboro entrepreneur Brett Overman has a nationally renowned disaster renovation company and one of the nation’s largest tunnel car wash companies.
His next vision is the expansion of a beloved fruit treat he discovered by accident in Springfield, Missouri.
Overman was doing business in the city a few years ago when he noticed a long line of people at a food truck; curiosity piqued, Overman investigated.
What he found was Pineapple Whip, a dairy-free recipe developed by Dan Fortner in 1974.
Pineapple Whip is sold by three trucks in the Springfield area and, now thanks to Overman purchasing the rights, the brand is going bigger.
Overman didn’t say how much he paid for the national rights of the treat, but he said the deal was done after meeting with members of the Fortner family. Overman said he has robust expansion plans for the product, but those plans were delayed by the onslaught of three hurricanes in the past month in Texas, Florida and the Caribbean.
“We’re really excited about really growing it around the country,” Overman said. “They have a great simple formula. People stand in line to buy this stuff at $3 a cup. It makes people happy.”
Overman said he plans to build out 20 trucks in the next 12 months.
