Springdale Company Awarded $25K Grant

1 min read

Vet Veggies of Springdale recently received one of three $25,000 grants awarded by Bob Evans Farms of New Albany, Ohio, through its inaugural Heroes to CEOs contest.

Fan Food of Iowa City, Iowa, and Mutt’s Sauce Centerville, Ohio, were the other winners. Along with the grant funding, founders of all three businesses received a business coaching session with Daymond John, the founder and CEO of FUBU and an investor on ABC’s “Shark Tank” television series.

The contest was developed in partnership with The Mission Continues.

Vet Veggies was created by Vietnam veterans Jerry Martin and Darryl Hill. It helps veterans start sustainable vegetable businesses using Freight Farms, freight cars retrofitted to become environmentally-controlled hydroponic farms. The company enables veterans to start farming for under $100,000 just about anywhere there is 400 SF of space, according to a news release.
