Arkansas Home Sales Held Steady In January

The Arkansas Realtors Association announced Tuesday that home sales held steady in January. 

According to the report, which surveys home sales in 43 counties, the number of homes sold in January increased by 6.7 percent. A total of 2,073 homes sold in January, compared to 1,943 reported for January 2017.

The average price of homes sold rose by 4.8 percent, to $175,699 from $167,730 in January 2017.

Statewide valuations in January increased by 11.8 percent year-over-year to $364 million.

Home sales in Arkansas’ top five most active markets totaled 1,120, up 10.2 percent from the same month in 2017.

Garland County sales increased by 54.8 percent. 

Pulaski, Washington and Benton county sales also rose, by 12 percent, 6.3 percent and 3.9 percent, respectively.

Sales in Sebastian County were flat.

Here’s unit sales for Arkansas’ five busiest counties:

  • Garland: 130, up from 84 in the same month of last year.
  • Pulaski: 309, up from 276.
  • Washingon: 218, up from 205.
  • Benton: 349, up from 336.
  • Sebastian: 114, down from 115.

Benton County led the state for highest average price, at $233,632, up 6.4 percent from January 2017.

But Arkansas County’s average price more than doubled to $202,560 from $84,750 reported for the same month of last year. 

The other highest average prices were:

  • $232,971, up 49 percent, in Carroll County.
  • $217,960, up 33 percent in Cleburne County.
  • $213,995, down by less than 1 percent ($77) in Washinton County.
